The basics
Caring for your crystals
Crystals soak up the energy of everything around them — including yours. A gentle cleanse every few weeks (and after big emotional days) keeps them clear and working alongside you. Here's how.
Six ways to cleanse
Moonlight
Set crystals on a windowsill the night before a full moon. Safe for every stone. The gentlest, most romantic method.
Selenite
Rest stones on or beside a selenite wand overnight. Selenite cleanses without ever needing cleansing itself. No water needed.
Smoke / smudge
Pass the stone gently through the smoke of palo santo, sage or kawakawa. Brief and effective for any crystal.
Running water
Hold under a stream of cool water for 30 seconds. Only for water-safe stones — see the list below.
Sunlight (briefly!)
10–15 minutes of morning sun energises stones like citrine and carnelian. Avoid for fade-sensitive crystals.
Sound
A singing bowl, bell, or tuning fork held near the crystal resets it in seconds. Safe for everything.

Stones that fade
A quick morning sunbath is fine, but long hours on a hot windowsill will quietly steal the colour from these:
- Amethyst (fades to pale lavender)
- Rose Quartz (fades)
- Fluorite (fades)
- Citrine (fades over time)
- Aventurine (fades)
A daily ritual
Hold it.
Pick up your crystal with both hands. Notice the temperature, the weight, the shape.
Name what you need.
Silently or out loud — calm, clarity, courage, a softer heart. One word is enough.
Place it somewhere you'll see it.
Bedside, desk, kitchen window. Let it be a small visual prompt back to your intention.
Cleanse it every few weeks.
Choose any method above. Crystals don't need much — just a little maintenance, like a houseplant.
